Recently, I decided to take a break from blogging.

I have been writing for my blog since 2020. My blog, adytech.in is a tech blog where I discuss tech products, reviews, and news. Till now, I have published 179 articles (actually I did more but were deleted later).

It may seem low for two years time but that’s because I was kind of inconsistent. Sometimes I was publishing over 15 articles a month and sometimes, only four.

Even though I wasn’t regular with my writing, I managed to generate over 2M+ impressions on Google and 100K+ clicks.

The weird part is that only 20% of my articles were doing good (generating thousands of impressions alone). The rest of them were either on the second or third page or even out of existence.

But I’m not here to brag about my blog how good it was. It was kind of a failure (I’ll talk about that later). The main point here is how I managed to get millions of impressions with inconsistent writing (some of the articles started ranking on page one after a month).

If you follow these steps I’m going to discuss, you may hit page one soon as expected. But before that, I must say I can’t guarantee you the results. As we all know, things work differently for everyone. If it worked for me, it doesn’t mean it will work for you (perhaps not as early as me. It all depends on the niche).

Yet, these steps will improve your understanding of SEO and might help to improve your SERP rankings.

Here are the 5 SEO hacks that helped me gain 2M+ impressions on Google.

1. How many Keywords are good for SEO?

I know many of you have this question in your mind when you first think of SEO. To be frank, it is not fixed. It depends on the length of your article.

Most SEO experts believe that 1% to 2% of keyword density is enough for Google to understand your article’s intent. That’s kind of true.

What I have observed is when I was writing an article of 800–1000 words, my targeted keyword ranged from 7–8 times in the article. I never went to 10. But again that depends on the other factors too. Like how many times you are using related keywords.

Related keywords are fairly important as the main keyword. It helps your article rank on different keywords related to the main keyword. That improves your chance of reaching more people who are searching with related keywords.

That said, I would say, try to maintain 1–2% of keyword density in your article.

Pro Tip: Try to include your main keyword 2–4 times at the start of your article. That’ll help Google quickly understand the intent of your article.

2. Optimize images for SEO

One thing that most new bloggers ignore is optimizing images for SEO.

In case you don’t know, images also rank on Google. And in some cases, they too become the source of traffic.

Optimizing images for SEO is the second most important factor for your article. So whatever images you are using, optimize them using the following method.

  1. Resize your images. Large images drastically increase the load time of your post that hurts the SEO. So try to reduce the size either by using a free online compressor or Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Avoid using the default name for your image. Some people don’t bother changing the name of their image. They keep it like “XYZ.jpeg”. Instead, use the name your image wants to convey, like the name of the product if you are using its image. For feature images, use the title of your article.
  3. Use alt tags. Google bots can’t visualize images. They need text to read to understand better. That’s where alt tags come into play. When you define the alt tags of the image, it helps bots to understand the context and rank it accordingly.

3. Write SEO-friendly headlines

What’s the first thing people notice when they search for anything on Google?

Headline.

A good and catchy headline attracts people to click on it. That’s what improves your ranking on Google.

But what if your post never appears in front of them? How will you make them click on it?

It only happens when your headline is not SEO friendly and that’s why it didn’t make it to the top.

Apart from writing catchy headlines, make sure your main keyword is included in your headline (especially in the beginning). It helps Google to understand your content.

For example, if your main keyword is ‘SEO Hacks’, implement it this way: 5 SEO Hacks to crack Googles’ First Page.

4. Not to forget the meta-description

Like headlines, meta-description too appears firsthand when people search for anything on Google.

Don’t know what meta-description is?

Take a look at the image below.

The little description below the headline is called meta-description. Google uses it to understand your post’s context and make it appear in front of the people who are searching for it.

Though Google automatically takes a part of your article as a meta-description (if you haven’t by yourself), it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. In some cases, what Google has chosen may not be liked by you and the people searching on the internet.

So make sure you are writing a well-structured meta-description by yourself with your main keyword included.

5. Write lengthy articles

Last but not the least, whatever articles you write, try to go above 1000 words.

A study by SerpIQ has shown that long articles rank higher in Google compared to short ones.

Average content length compared to rankings

So whatever topic you choose, write a detailed one with lots of data and information. But don’t write bluff. Your every word should provide an important value to your readers. It will make both your reader and Google happy.

My articles usually range from 900 to 2000 words and that’s why they ranked on page one on Google.

Over the course of my blogging period, I have learned these 5 SEO hacks that play an important role in your ranking on Google. That’s what has helped me to gain those 2M+ impressions and 100K+ clicks.

Try these techniques and then see the results yourself. They may not work quickly, but sooner or later, they will.
